Kristina Nelon

Specialties: Adolescents, Trauma, Military, Anxiety, Depression, ADHD

I believe therapy works best when it feels authentic, safe, and supportive. Having experienced the value of counseling myself, I know that empathy and honesty are essential for building a strong therapeutic relationship. My life experiences allow me to approach each person as unique, with authenticity and compassion at the center of my work. Clients often tell me they appreciate that I am “real” with them, which reinforces my belief that the relationship itself is the heart of therapy.

I earned my B.A. in Psychology from Ashford University and an M.S. in Counseling from Troy University. Growing up as both a military child and later a military spouse has shaped much of who I am. With 30+ years connected to the military community, I have a personal understanding of resilience, diversity, and the challenges that service members and their families face. I am also a Star Behavioral Health Provider (Tier 2), reflecting my commitment to supporting military families.

I have extensive training in EMDR, ACT, CBT, SFBT, and the Gottman Method (Level 1). I blend traditional approaches with creative and body-based methods, including play, art-informed, and somatic work, tailoring each session to the individual rather than expecting clients to fit one approach. I enjoy working with both adolescents and adults, creating a space where clients feel safe, supported, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges.

It is a privilege to walk alongside clients as they face struggles such as trauma, anxiety, grief, body image, codependency, and relationship concerns. My goal is to provide a calm and supportive environment where you feel understood and equipped to move toward healing, growth, and a meaningful life.
