Masters Intern

Ashley Sullivan

I’ve always been drawn to supporting others and creating spaces where people feel heard, valued, and understood. Counseling is more than a profession to me, it is meaningful work that I feel honored to be part of. I am currently a master’s-level counseling intern at Liberty University, working toward my degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

I work with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety disorders, depression, ADHD, relationship challenges, life transitions, and complex trauma. My approach to therapy is integrative, relational, and tailored to the unique needs of each client. I draw from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based strategies to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I also incorporate an art-informed approach, using creative expression as a gentle and meaningful way for clients to explore what may be difficult to express verbally. In my work with couples, I utilize Gottman Level 1 training to support healthier communication, emotional connection, and conflict resolution.

Outside of counseling, I stay grounded through meditation and yoga, practices that help me show up fully present with my clients. I’m also a military spouse and mom to three boys, and those parts of my life have taught me so much about resiliency and flexibility. For clients who desire it, I am also able to incorporate a spiritual component into therapy, honoring each individual’s beliefs and integrating faith in a way that supports healing and growth.
