Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern
Ashley Sullivan
I have always been drawn to supporting others and creating spaces where people feel heard, valued, and understood. Counseling is more than a profession to me, it is meaningful work that I feel deeply honored to be part of.
I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety disorders, depression, ADHD, relationship challenges, life transitions, and complex trauma. My approach to therapy is integrative, relational, and thoughtfully tailored to each client’s unique needs. I draw from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based interventions to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and patterns of behavior.
With children, I use a play-informed approach to therapy, incorporating developmentally appropriate activities and creative expression to help them process emotions, build coping skills, and feel safe and engaged in the therapeutic space. I also integrate an art-informed approach across ages, using creative expression as a gentle and meaningful way to explore experiences that may be difficult to put into words. Somatic exercises are incorporated to support nervous system regulation, body awareness, and emotional grounding.
In my work with couples, I utilize Gottman Level 1 principles to support healthier communication, emotional connection, and effective conflict resolution.
Outside of the therapy room, I stay grounded through meditation and yoga, practices that help me remain present and attuned with my clients. I am also a military spouse and a mother to three boys, roles that have shaped my understanding of resilience, adaptability, and the complexities of family life. For clients who desire it, I am able to integrate a spiritual component into therapy, honoring each individual’s beliefs and incorporating faith in a way that supports healing, growth, and personal meaning.
